Ecommerce training 2016 Wisconsin July Having even a basic website today is equivalent to being listed in the phone book. Businesses that are not online run the risk of losing customers and sales daily. We know that building up an online presence can be a difficult task for small businesses with limited resources–this is why the Broadband & E-Commerce Education Center has been holding online training workshops for small businesses throughout Wisconsin since 2014.

Recently the UW-Extension Broadband & E-Commerce Center conducted its third web and online training for small- and mid-size businesses, this time in Vernon and Crawford counties, Wisconsin. 49 attendees took classes to learn how to use online tools like websites, social media, or online marketing to build their business or support business’ bottom line.

These workshops were hosted by UWEX in partnership with the Vernon Communications Cooperative and the Public Service Commission-Wisconsin.

This series of hands-on workshops is designed to help business get going on popular platforms including: Wix and WordPress websites, advertising on Facebook, and building a customer base through email marketing (MailChimp platform) within a relatively short period of time. This round of training also covered using LinkedIN and SEO basics.

Working hands-on with attendees, our trainers walked participants through the process of selecting, setting up and using tools, through measurement and analytics to test whether the tool is working for their business.

To-date we have worked with 144 students in the course of three pilots held in: Ashland, Bayfield, Vilas, Oneida, Wood,Clark, Vernon and Crawford counties.
