Congratulations to the third class of Wisconsin’s Digital Leaders!

These 2014 Digital Leaders represent a cross section of UW-Extension. These statewide Digital Leaders will work with the Broadband & E-Commerce Education Center and their communities to increase broadband (high speed internet) connection and adoption. Their projects will run July – December, 2014.

A three-time Digital Leader grant recipient, Iron County will use this third grant to continue broadband connectivity and adoption in Iron County.

Peter will partner with InCourage Foundation to build on 2013 county broadband assessment work to generate a greater awareness of where broadband is not available  in the county, as well as generating a greater understanding by residents of benefits for broadband access and broadband technology that is presently available.

Joy and Todd are joined in a second round Digital Leader grant by Will Cronin. This second grant will contine collaborative work that brings together stakeholders in a  five-county Southwest Wisconsin region to develop a shared vision for reliable,  accessible, and affordable broadband. Working with Prosperity Southwest Wisconsin, a consortium of Economic Development professionals, as well as regional  healthcare, education, law enforcement, libraries and emergency management personnel, Joy and Todd will facilitate five strategy sessions to lay the  groundwork for measurable and actionable strategies to move regional access to broadband forward beyond the life of the grant.

 Local businesses in Vilas County have identified the need for increased broadband connectivity and capability as the #1 issue for an improved business climate in  Vilas County. Chris will use his Digital Leader Grant to to develop an increased awareness of the importance of Broadband for the future of Vilas County educational  system and  economy.
