CINC update 6.4.12

06/04/2012 BCCB, CANs, CCI, Chippewa Valley by j.smith

It’s been over a month since my last update and much has happened, which is a great thing, it’s been a bumpy ride and hopeful the road smooths out soon.    First I want to report the great news that we have more community anchor institutions coming on-line every week with fiber connectivity!

  • 131 sites total for the Chippewa Valley, currently 11 sites connected with fiber and/or WiMax

The splicing has been in in progress for months now. Our focus has been on bringing up main trunk lines and the complex intersections which is now about completed. They are also finishing up all the smaller tie-ins for each building where we had fiber installed over the winter.  Now the crews are busy pulling in new fiber for areas we couldn’t get into earlier and connecting those pieces.   Lastly they are  testing from point to point for verification as they install.

More good news, the construction crews have been working toward the north in Bloomer, New Auburn and Chetek, they should be done with those areas early next week.

For the towers we have the WiMax equipment here and ready for installation.   Plans to put out for bidding the towers themselves are still in process and we are hopeful they will go out next week.

Network equipment has been dispersed to many agencies, it’s being configured and as sites get fiber it is getting deployed.  The WiFi equipment is being installed all over the area and the WiFi group has been working on implementing the plans for sharing those networks.

Everyone have a great weekend,
